Marconi T18 DA Radio c1949

This Art Deco style Marconiphone radio has been a fun project- I used the original radio chassis and valves and added some mysterious colour changing glowing tubes - original controls used for dimming and switching.
With its evocative `Odeon` style design, this clock has some interesting functions controlled by the original controls in addition to its own remote controlled lighting. The original radio was complete but non-working, and unusually the case was in great condition with no splits or cracks - its been refinished in its original cream painted finish. The clock uses Russian IN-16 Nixies, an elegant slender design and has underlit tubes which are infra-red remote controlled, you can have almost any colour, program your own or a selection of many colour effects both static and dynamic, 7 colour cycling, fading etc . The internal radio chassis has been retained and modified, the speaker and other heavy parts are gone, but the original valves have been retained and lit with amber LED`s for effect. The front valve and the glass coil tube at the front have colour changing LED`s. These can be switched on or off with the original front control knobs. The front and rear grilles have been replaced with clear acrylic sheet, allowing the internal LED`s to cast a glow under and around the clock. Clock settings and alarm are controlled by the row of push buttons on the rear panel. This clock would look great with a collection of Art Deco or in a 1930`s/40`s retro interior - looks spectacular in low light . Size 26 (W)x 20 (H)x 16 (D) cms.Runs off standard 12vdc 500ma wall adaptor which is included
